Sky is the limit for unbeaten Amreekiyah

Peter Snowden’s filly Amreekiyah made an eye-catching return to the track at Canterbury, delivering a barnstorming finish to keep her unbeaten record intact.

Despite carrying topweight of 61kg, the $1.70 favourite stormed down the outside to beat O’Invincible ($14) in the Broadsiding @ Darley Handicap (1250m), with a powerful final surge from the back of the field.

It was a performance that justified her growing reputation and gave Snowden every reason to be excited about her future.

“There is plenty more to come with her,” Snowden told Sky Racing.

“She is still very raw yet but she’s got so much potential.

“It was good to see her do something special because she has been showing for a while at home that she is a bit above average.”

Snowden brought Amreekiyah back to racing slightly early in a bid to build her foundation before spring targets emerge.

“We brought her back for a reason at this time of year,” he said.

“We’re aiming for all those races but little steps first.”

Earlier on the program, Kerber ($8.50), a half-sister to In Secret, landed her maiden victory at her second outing. She showed good gate speed and dug deep to win narrowly from Miss Jones ($5.50).

Jockey Jason Collett believes Kerber has more to give once she matures.

“There’s definitely more there. She has still got a bit of growing up to do upstairs,” Collett said.

“Her mind isn’t completely on it yet, so when they’re doing it like that, that’s a sign there is more there to come.”

Chris Waller also landed a two-year-old feature with Skyglider leading home a dominant trifecta in the Keenland September Yearling Sale Handicap (1200m), making a winning debut for the stable.
