Savvy filly continues 2025 Spring Racing Carnival build-up

Tuesday’s Rosehill trials will feature an exciting mix of proven performers and emerging three-year-olds as trainers begin fine-tuning their spring contenders.
Among them is Savvy Hallie, the Brad Widdup-trained daughter of Hellbent, who lines up for her second trial in a 900-metre heat against ATC Sires’ runner-up State Visit.
Although winless in four starts, Savvy Hallie has been placed three times and is regarded as one of Widdup’s most promising young gallopers alongside stablemate Nashville Jack, a recent Randwick winner.
“Her and Nashville Jack are both shaping up as promising horses, so we’re keen to see how they return this prep,” Widdup said. “She’s done everything right so far, but the real test comes on raceday.”
Savvy Hallie was a sharp winner of her first trial at Rosehill on July 15, her first public appearance since chasing home Tempted in the Group 2 Percy Sykes Stakes and earlier running second to Group 1 Champagne Stakes winner Nepotism in the Group 3 TL Baillieu Handicap.
Other notable triallers include high-quality youngsters such as Within The Law, Black Opal Stakes winner King Of Pop, Pago Pago victor Skyhook, Silver Slipper runner-up West Of Swindon and Canonbury Stakes winner Blitzburg.
Group 3 Kindergarten Stakes winner North England will step out in the second 900-metre trial alongside Magic Night Stakes winner Memo, Chris Waller’s Lindermann and Moira, and Group 1 performer Another Prophet.
The trial session begins with a 1000-metre heat for stayers, featuring Sydney Cup hero Arapaho, Land Legend and Interpretation as they continue their preparations for the spring.
