Star studded jump-out heat at Caulfield
Wednesday’s Caulfield jump-outs will have a spring feel with a quality line-up headlined by Group 1 winners Magic Time, Attrition, Mornington Glory, Pinstriped, Desert Lightning, La Dorada and Smokin’ Romans in the first 800-metre heat.
Mornington Glory, trained by Gavin Bedggood, is set for a campaign mirroring last year’s successful preparation, which included victory in the Group 1 Moir Stakes (1000m).
Last year, he started in the Group 3 Sir John Monash Stakes, won a Benchmark 100 at Moonee Valley and took out the Listed Carlyon Stakes (1000m) on his way to Group 1 glory.
Bedggood said Mornington Glory would resume in the Norman Carlyon Stakes on August 23 before again targeting the Moir Stakes.
“He’s going well and starting to hit his stride. The plan is to follow the same path as last year, beginning with the Carlyon,” Bedggood explained.
The gelding’s most recent start was a third in the Group 2 McEwen Stakes (1200m), with an autumn campaign abandoned due to injury before the Oakleigh Plate.
