Lindsay Park shooting for a fourth PB Lawrence Stakes
Lindsay Park will attempt to stretch their dominance in the P B Lawrence Stakes to a fourth straight victory when two of their stable stars step out at Caulfield this Saturday.
Mr Brightside provided back-to-back wins in the Group 2 feature before Gentleman Roy completed the treble last year. This time, the Hayes brothers – Ben, Will and J D – pin their hopes on Here To Shock and Evaporate.
Evaporate makes his four-year-old debut after a stellar three-year-old campaign, which included a placing in the Caulfield Guineas, a start in the Cox Plate, and a Group 3 victory in the Carbine Club Stakes at Randwick.
“His trials have been excellent, he’s come through his trials really well and he’s a horse I think that is going to be in for a very good campaign,” Hayes said. He noted Evaporate’s proven ability at weight-for-age level as a rare trait for a horse his age.
Here To Shock, a model of consistency last season with only one finish outside the top two from seven starts, also returns in peak order after pleasing in recent jump-outs.
“We could not be happier with the way he is going,” Hayes said, pointing out his strong trial form against quality sprinters.
The 11-runner line-up includes Private Eye (barrier 8), Pinstriped (barrier 9), and Desert Lightning (barrier 1), with Here To Shock drawn widest and Evaporate in gate 3.
