Three-time G1 winner Sunshine In Paris retired

The racing career of triple Group 1 winner Sunshine In Paris is over following an injury sustained at trackwork on Tuesday morning.
Training partners Annabel and Rob Archibald broke the news on social media after consulting with the six-year-old’s owners John and Deb Camilleri.
“Our stable star Sunshine In Paris has unfortunately picked up an injury during trackwork this morning,” the statement read.
“After consultation with her owners, John and Deb Camilleri, and our vets we have decided to retire her with immediate effect.
“She joined our stable as a yearling in May 2021 and went on to record seven wins, five at Group level, including three Group 1 victories and earned more than $6 million in prizemoney.
“She has been a wonderful flag-bearer for the stable who delivered us unforgettable moments on the track and we are very grateful to John and Deb for entrusting us with their star mare who will fondly be remembered as Rob’s first Group 1 winner.
“We know we she will be a wonderful mare at stud and look forward to following her next chapter.”
Sunshine In Paris, a $90,000 Magic Millions yearling, became the first Group 1 winner for Invader when she won the Surround Stakes as a three-year-old in February 2023.
Later that year she was offered at the Magic Millions National Sale, where she got to $3.9 million before being knocked down to James Harron on behalf of the Camilleris.
Sunshine In Paris finished second in the Group 1 Galaxy at four before adding a second Group 1 in last year’s Champions Sprint at Flemington, soon after Rob entered into partnership with Annabel.
Her third and final Group 1 success came at her last racetrack appearance, in the Doomben 10,000 at Doomben in May this year.
She retires a winner of seven of 17 starts with a further five placings and $6,067,775 in stakes.
