2025 Makybe Diva Stakes next for Treasurethe Moment after Memsie win
Treasurethe Moment showed she had graduated to the big league with a powerhouse win in the Group 1 Memsie Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield, confirming her status as one of the most exciting mares in training.
Having won dual Oaks last season, the filly returned against older rivals and made a statement, bursting away late to defeat Mr Brightside ($7) and Buckaroo ($61). Sent out at $6 with Damian Lane aboard, she put 2-½ lengths on her rivals in one of the strongest Memsie renewals in recent memory.
“I wasn’t expecting to be coming here and winning,” Laurie said. “To come back from winning two Oaks and come back against a field like this over seven furlongs, it’s mind blowing.”
Laurie confirmed her path leads through the Makybe Diva Stakes and the Turnbull Stakes, before a decision is made between the Caulfield Cup or the Cox Plate. A clash with stablemate Via Sistina is a possibility. “On that run, 2000 metres at The Valley, she’d have to be some chance,” Laurie said.
Lane said the race played out differently to expectations but Treasurethe Moment proved far too good. “We were hoping what we were seeing in her trackwork, and trials would translate into today, and it did… she was electrifying.”
