Widdup filly set for another Savvy showing in the 2025 Furious Stakes
Silver Shadow Stakes heroine Savvy Hallie will line up in the Furious Stakes (1200m) at Randwick, with Brad Widdup optimistic she can continue her rich vein of form regardless of track conditions.
Already a two-time winner this campaign, including a Newcastle demolition followed by her Group 2 success, the filly has Widdup convinced she is something special. “It was a pretty good effort to do that and in a short period. You can’t do that with a normal horse,” he said.
While she’s excelled on heavy ground, Widdup pointed to her solid record on firmer surfaces. “I think she does like a bit of the sting out… but she’s had three runs on good tracks for two seconds so still acceptable.”
From barrier five, Savvy Hallie meets a strong 16-horse field. Silver Shadow runner-up Within The Law has been hampered by the outside draw, Agarwood is in 10, while Freedman’s promising filly Apocalyptic has the inside alley.
The Furious represents the midway stage of the Princess Series, which continues with the Tea Rose before concluding with the Group 1 Flight Stakes at Randwick over 1600m.
