Treasurethe Moment still a chance to run in Cox Plate 2025

Treasurethe Moment has bounced back from her minor health setback, with Yulong confirming the dual Oaks winner has safely returned to Matt Laurie’s stable and remains on a path towards the Cox Plate.

The mare was briefly sidelined after a mild colic episode but has responded well to treatment and recovery. Chief Operating Officer Sam Fairgray said the plan is now for her to resume in the Group 2 Feehan Stakes (2000m) at Moonee Valley on September 26, before progressing to the Group 1 Might And Power Stakes (2000m) at Caulfield as a lead-in to October’s Cox Plate.

“She looks great and she’ll just build back into her work gradually over the coming days,” Fairgray said. “The Feehan will tell us plenty, then we can look to the Might And Power, but her main aim is still the Cox Plate.”

The reshuffle also means stablemate Via Sistina, who was initially being aimed at Sydney races, will now contest the Makybe Diva Stakes (1600m) at Flemington before heading to the Turnbull Stakes (2000m). A blockbuster Cox Plate clash between the two mares is now firmly back on the cards.

“It was only a light colic scare and thankfully everything was caught quickly,” Fairgray said. “The signs are really positive and it would be fantastic to see both mares lining up against the best in the Cox Plate.”

Fans can already secure early odds on both mares in the Cox Plate through Australia’s leading betting sites.
