Tempted ready to fire in the 2025 Run To The Rose

History beckons for Golden Slipper placegetter Tempted, who tackles the boys in Saturday’s Run To The Rose (1200m) for her new trainer Ciaron Maher.
Only In Secret has managed to win the race as a filly, back in 2022, and Tempted must overcome 11 colts and one gelding to repeat the feat. The contest has drawn a high-class field featuring most of the elite from this year’s Golden Slipper, minus winner Marhoona and Devil Night.
“She’s already got a pretty impressive record and the signs are very good from what I’ve seen,” Maher said. “She spent most of her time out on the farm for Godolphin and she seems to be thriving down at Bong Bong.”
The filly’s six-start juvenile season produced three wins, highlighted by her scalp of Marhoona in the Resiling Stakes (1200m). She will also be defending Godolphin’s formidable record in the Run To The Rose, where its colours have been carried to victory in five of the last six years.
Maher has left the door open for grander assignments. “She has got a lot of options. She could go south. She could stay here. You could raise the bar. Everything is on the table for her,” he said. A berth in The Everest is among those possibilities.
In early betting, Tempted sits at $5 alongside Wodeton, chasing San Domenico Stakes victor Raging Force, the $3.10 favourite.
