Waller colts have Golden glow after 2025 Ming Dynasty Quality

Chris Waller’s emerging stars Sixties and Autumn Boy look set for the Golden Rose after dominating the Ming Dynasty Quality at Rosehill.
Sixties ($7) took up the running and proved too strong under Rachel King, holding off fast-finishing stablemate Autumn Boy ($2.60 fav) by half a length in the 1400m feature. Autumn Boy, racing for the first time this preparation, lost no admirers with his late charge while carrying top weight.
Assistant trainer Charlie Duckworth was full of praise for the winner. “He’s a brother to Artorius and today he showed why he has stallion potential. He was tough and gave a dominant kick. The Golden Rose is a stallion-making race, and he’s earned his shot.”
Duckworth also sees upside in Autumn Boy’s defeat. “He’s still improving and will be better next start. His sire, The Autumn Sun, was beaten first-up in the Stan Fox Stakes before taking the Golden Rose, so the parallels are there.”
Without Peer ($11) boxed on for third, another 2-3/4 lengths away, and trainer Ciaron Maher confirmed the colt would be aimed towards the Spring Champion Stakes over 2000m.
