Lady Shenandoah secures slot in The Everest 2025
Lady Shenandoah has officially joined the 2025 Everest line-up, giving Chris Waller a second mare confirmed for the $20 million Randwick showcase on October 18.
The striking four-year-old has been selected to run in the Fairway Thoroughbreds slot owned by John Camilleri, becoming the sixth horse guaranteed a start in this year’s edition. She will line up alongside stablemate Joliestar, who was announced for the field just last week.
Hermitage Thoroughbreds, who race the mare, expressed their delight at securing a coveted position in the elite sprint. “We are thrilled to see Lady Shenandoah gain a spot in this year’s Everest,” said manager Shannon Clarke. “It’s a race that captures the imagination of the racing world and to be represented by a mare of her calibre is a great honour. We’re also incredibly grateful to Fairway Thoroughbreds for their support and confidence in Lady Shenandoah.”
Lady Shenandoah is already a triple Group 1 winner courtesy of the Flight Stakes, Surround Stakes and Coolmore Classic, and returned this campaign with a luckless runner-up effort in the Group 3 Concorde Stakes. She is expected to use the Manikato Stakes at Moonee Valley later this month as her final tune-up before tackling the Everest.
