2025 The Everest favourite Ka Ying Rising lands in Sydney

Super sprinter Ka Ying Rising has arrived in Sydney, with the Hong Kong star now one step closer to lining up as the hot favourite in the $20 million The Everest at Randwick on October 18.

The David Hayes-trained galloper landed on Monday morning after travelling smoothly from Hong Kong. Australian Turf Club racing manager Nevesh Ramdhani praised both the horse’s quality and the growing partnership with the Hong Kong Jockey Club.

“Absolutely, the ratings on this horse after his 13 wins have just been incredible,” Ramdhani said. “In the decade we’ve been bringing horses here, I can’t remember another rated so highly. It’s also about strengthening our relationship with Hong Kong racing.”

With 14 wins from 16 outings, Ka Ying Rising is rated among the best in the world. His Racing And Sports peak figure of 132 matches Via Sistina’s Cox Plate demolition last year, and sits just below all-time champions Black Caviar (136) and Winx (134).

After arrival, he was transferred to the Canterbury Quarantine Facility, where he will spend two weeks before stepping out in a Randwick trial on October 7 to tighten his Everest preparation.

International rivals are also en route, with last year’s Golden Eagle winner Lake Forest and Sam Hawkens expected Tuesday, while Bullet Point, Panja Tower, Seagulls Eleven and Luther are scheduled later in October.

Ka Ying Rising’s presence in Sydney adds further intrigue to The Everest, and punters can secure the latest odds at leading Australian betting sites.
