Ferivia stamps her 2025 Thousand Guineas credentials

A week after being withdrawn on race morning, Ferivia rebounded in style to capture the Group 2 Thousand Guineas Prelude at Sandown. The Phillip Stokes-trained filly, backed at $11, nosed out Ole Dancer ($2.80) in a dramatic finish, with Salty Pearl ($9) flashing late for third.
Stokes said the Group 1 Thousand Guineas was now the clear target. “She was meant to run last week but we had to scratch her. Missing that start has actually helped. She’ll improve again, and the mile looks ideal.”
Ferivia had been pencilled in for the Edward Manifold Stakes if she had run last week, but Stokes confirmed she would now head straight to Caulfield on October 18.
Jockey Lachlan Neindorf was thrilled with her tenacity. “She was out on her feet at the 100m, then she changed legs and picked up again. I’ve always thought she’d be a 1400m to mile horse, and she’s proving it now.”
