Brilliant mare ready to Glow in the 2025 Epsom Handicap

Chris Waller’s unbeaten mare Autumn Glow is such a dominant presence that she may be deterring her own stablemates from tackling her in the Group 1 Epsom Handicap (1600m) at Randwick next Saturday.
Installed as the $1.90 favourite, the rising star will likely head into the $1 million race with fewer Waller-trained rivals than usual, the trainer admitting her status has forced him to reconsider his Epsom line-up.
“We will work that out on Monday but we will be less than normal,” Waller said. “I think the top seed is going to be hard to beat.”
Autumn Glow sharpened up at Rosehill on Saturday with a race day hit-out, breezing 1000m in 1:06.92 under Kerrin McEvoy, including a 36.94 final 600m. She now looks to extend her unbeaten streak to seven after earlier spring wins in the Toy Show Quality (1100m) and Theo Marks Stakes (1300m).
“Since her good last start win she has ticked over nicely at home and we thought we’d bring her (to Rosehill) to give her a race day experience, settle the nerves and make sure we were on track for next Saturday,” Waller explained.
While his Epsom squad will be smaller, Waller remains well placed for the Group 1 Metropolitan (2400m), with Birdman and Soul Of Spain spearheading the team. Etna Rosso, More Felons and Travolta are also in contention, while Enviable and Karinska are expected starters in the Group 1 Flight Stakes (1600m).
