Mixed draws for fancied runners in Caulfield Guineas 2025 Field

Kate Brideoake had reason to smile at Tuesday’s Caulfield Guineas barrier draw — even if Vinrock’s number wasn’t quite what she’d hoped for.
The Mornington-based Brideoake-Laurie stable will send three contenders into Saturday’s Group 1 feature over 1600m, with Brideoake tasked with pulling the barriers for Prestige Ole, Vega For Luck and Vinrock.
After snaring gates four and seven for her first two picks, Brideoake joked that her good fortune might be running out when she stepped up to draw for Vinrock — and sure enough, the colt landed in barrier 14.
“Prestige Ole and Vega For Luck were good, but Vinrock’s a little wide, but it’s better than barrier one,” she said with a laugh. “Matt (Laurie) told me to stick between two and eight — so I almost nailed it.”
Vinrock heads into the Guineas off a mixed prep, having won impressively over 1400m at Flemington before a luckless fifth in the Stutt Stakes (1600m) at Moonee Valley, where he pulled up slightly lame after suffering interference.
“He got a bit of a bump on the corner, but he trotted out well on the Saturday morning and it’s all systems go,” Brideoake said. “This has been his target. Grand Final Eve was a nightmare and from the time the barriers opened it was a non-event. He’s not a sit and sprint horse, he likes a building gallop, and that is what we will be hoping for on Saturday.”
Brideoake said the son of I Am Invincible would appreciate a more genuine tempo and expects him to be ridden positively in the early stages.
“His pedigree is distance although the Vinne’s (I Am Invincible) don’t get out,” she said. “But when your mum (Girl Gone Rockin’) wins the Matriarch, it means you have some stamina, so we’ll be hoping he can get over a bit of ground.”
“Vega For Luck is going brilliantly. I think Jamie (Mott) rode him a bit cheekily in the Prelude while Prestige Ole still has to show it, but he’s in there.”
Vinrock is currently rated a $7 chance for the Guineas, sitting behind Wodeton ($4) and Autumn Boy ($4.40) in betting, while Vega For Luck and Prestige Ole are $34 and $101 respectively.
Autumn Boy drew the inside alley (1) and Wodeton gate 10, with both colts galloping at Caulfield on Tuesday following their runs in the Golden Rose (1400m) at Rosehill.
