Headley Grange continues hot streak in 2025 Alan Brown Stakes
Consistency, class, and courage — Headley Grange showed all three as he stormed to victory in Saturday’s $1.5 million Alan Brown Stakes (1400m) at Rosehill, giving trainer Joe Pride another feature-race success.
The five-year-old son of Exosphere continued his remarkable preparation, winning for the fifth time this campaign and eleventh overall. Ridden by Adam Hyeronimus, he overcame a wide draw to surge past Gringotts ($3.30 fav) by half a length, with General Salute ($8.50) finishing third.
“It’s amazing — he’s exceeded every expectation,” Pride said. “To beat a horse like Gringotts, a proven Group 1 winner, shows just how tough and reliable he is. He’s absolutely bombproof.”
Hyeronimus, who has now partnered the gelding in six of his wins, credited Pride’s training approach. “He’s just such a trier,” he said. “Joe managed him beautifully through the grades. Every run’s been a stepping stone, and now he’s a stakes star.”
Pride confirmed that The Big Dance (1600m) at Randwick on Melbourne Cup day is next on the agenda. “The weights and barrier didn’t worry him today,” Pride said. “I think a mile will be perfect for him.”
Headley Grange has since firmed into $4 favouritism for The Big Dance, cementing his place as one of Sydney’s in-form middle-distance gallopers.
