Unbeaten mare Autumn Glow following proven path to the Golden Eagle 2025
Unbeaten mare Autumn Glow will take another step toward her Golden Eagle goal with a scheduled barrier trial at Randwick, as trainer Chris Waller repeats the preparation that proved so successful with Kolding in 2019.
Waller’s Epsom–Golden Eagle double with Kolding came via a single trial in between, and his assistant Charlie Duckworth confirmed the team would follow an almost identical path with their rising star. “It’s a similar plan — Kolding didn’t race between the two and this mare has earned the same treatment,” Duckworth said. “She’s already done the hard work winning the Epsom, so this trial is just a tune-up.”
Duckworth added that the stable will also nominate her for the Empire Rose Stakes but expects to stay focused on the $10 million Golden Eagle. “She’s ticked off her Group 1, so now we just want a nice piece of work Monday to keep her sharp,” he said.
The Epsom Handicap heroine has thrived since her victory, with Duckworth confirming she remains in outstanding condition. “She galloped on the course proper Thursday and came through it beautifully,” he said. “She’s right where we want her to be.”
Autumn Glow will line up in the 1050m second heat on Monday, joined by Epsom runner-up Fully Lit. She currently leads betting at $2.50 for the Golden Eagle (1500m) at Rosehill on November 1, with Panja Tower next in line at $4.50.
