Beadman set for 2025 Coolmore Stud Stakes test

Posted by RS NewsWire at 8:44am on October 28th

Peter Snowden says his colt Beadman is ready to peak for the Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes (1200m) at Flemington on Saturday — rain or shine.

The talented Snitzel colt is among 15 nominations for the three-year-old sprint and was given a familiarisation jump-out last week, finishing second to Balastier.

“He seemed focused and jumped out nicely,” Snowden said. “We weren’t trying to win the jump-out. We just wanted him to have a look down the straight, and he handled it perfectly.”

Beadman has shown promise throughout his career, with two wins from five starts including a runaway 8¼-length victory in the Group 3 Ken Russell Stakes (1200m) on heavy ground at the Gold Coast. He was immediately spelled after that win to target this race.

Since resuming, he has placed in both Sydney starts — third to Mahroona first-up, then second to Hidden Motive in the Group 2 Roman Consul Stakes.

“He’s still a bit raw but very talented,” Snowden said. “Everything I’ve asked of him, he’s done easily. He’s thrived since arriving in Melbourne and is in great order.”

Blake Shinn, who partnered him in the jump-out, will again ride on Saturday. Snowden said the colt’s experience down the straight will prove valuable. “It didn’t faze him at all — that’s always a good sign heading into Flemington,” he said.

Beadman’s rivals in the Coolmore include Golden Rose victor Beiwacht, Blue Diamond Stakes winner Devil Night, Roman Consul conqueror Hidden Motive, Tentyris, and My Gladiola.

Fans can find odds for Beadman and the full Coolmore Stud Stakes field at leading Australian betting sites.
