Dance placegetters in hunt for 2025 Five Diamonds consolation
Both Vivy Air and Lugh could be back at the races again this week, with the Ciaron Maher team keeping their options open for Saturday’s $2 million Five Diamonds at Rosehill.
The stable celebrated a clean sweep of the placings in Tuesday’s Big Dance, and assistant trainer Jo Gerard-Dubord says both minor placegetters have pulled up well to this point.
Vivy Air’s resilience has become one of her best assets.
“She’s just a hard mare,” Gerard-Dubord said.
“She eats, she rests, she trains — and the trip to 1800 metres is right up her alley.”
Lugh’s story continues to be one of patience, returning this prep after 15 months away following the Super Impose Stakes as a three-year-old.
“He rolled forward and fought right to the finish,” Gerard-Dubord said.
“He’s still lightly raced with upside.”
The field for the Five Diamonds also features Queensland talent Transatlantic and the internationally-travelled Bullet Point, to be partnered by Cieren Fallon.
