Jimmysstar in ‘career-best form’ ahead of 2025 CF Orr Stakes
Ciaron Maher believes the placement of the Group 1 CF Orr Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield this Saturday plays perfectly into the hands of Jimmysstar.
The gelding heads into the feature after a powerful display in the $3 million Russell Balding Stakes (1300m), returning to Melbourne in top order.
“He’s super. He’s in career best form,” Maher said.
Having already proven himself at 1400m and beyond, Maher is confident the horse will relish the step up.
“He’s in a rich vein of form,” Maher said.
“He showed us plenty at 1300 and I think 1400 is just perfect at this stage.”
Although once a run-on type, Jimmysstar has shown flexibility in settling closer to the speed, highlighted by his third in The Everest.
“He’ll travel even easier at 1400,” Maher said.
Regular rider Ethan Brown continues the partnership.
Jimmysstar, with over $6 million banked, sits at $2.80 in early markets, chasing Angel Capital at $2.50 after his closing run in The Everest.
