G1 placed My Gladiola short odds in the 2025 Thoroughbred Club Stakes

After a gallant effort behind Tentyris in the Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes, rising star filly My Gladiola will aim to secure her own spring highlight in Saturday’s Group 3 Thoroughbred Club Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield.

Trained by John McArdle and ridden in all seven starts by Jamie Mott, the daughter of I Am Invincible heads into the $1 million event off another brave showing at Flemington, finishing just over two lengths from one of the country’s best young sprinters.

Mott believes My Gladiola’s toughness and ability to rebound from high-pressure races will be crucial as she returns to fillies company this weekend.

“She’s a good-doing filly – a big, strong thing that has always bounced out of her races really well,” Mott said.

“When this race was put on and was worth a million bucks, if she pulled up well out of the Coolmore they were always going to have a look at it, and she has come out of the Coolmore really well.

“She’s going there 100 percent.”

My Gladiola has built a superb record, never missing the top two apart from one start — her eighth-place finish in the Blue Diamond Stakes. Her resume includes victories in the Group 3 Blue Diamond Preview and Listed Cap D’Antibes Stakes.

Once again she will jump from barrier one, but Mott is optimistic the Caulfield configuration will suit.

“It’s quite a big field, so obviously, if you’re drawn out, you need a lot of luck anyway, so we know she’s going to get a good cushy run,” he said.

“We just need a bit of luck getting out.”

My Gladiola opened $2.15 favourite for the Thoroughbred Club Stakes, ahead of Red Roses Stakes runner-up Inkaruna, who drew barrier seven.
