Unspoken warming towards another win ahead of the 2025 ATC Cup

Unspoken hasn’t quite rediscovered the brilliance he displayed early in his Australian career, but his recent performances indicate he’s edging closer to a return to winning ways.

The talented import swept four straight races in the spring of 2023, including his memorable victory in the $2 million Five Diamonds, yet since then he has placed only once—from a run during the Melbourne Cup carnival at Flemington.

His first two runs this prep have been encouraging. He was midfield in the Shannon Stakes (1500m) then produced a strong Cup Day Plate (1800m) effort.

The gelding now steps to 2000m in Saturday’s ATC Cup (2000m) at Rosehill, though barrier twelve adds a degree of difficulty.

“He’s going really well. Just trying to find the right races for him has been difficult,” Snowden said.

“We have landed on this one, which I think is ideal.

“His work has been very good. His run was excellent during Melbourne Cup week over 1800. He just peaked on his run fifty metres out.

“He was five weeks between his first run and second run, this sort of back up will suit him.”

Stablemate Huetor resumes alongside him after being withdrawn from The Beauford (2300m) when a blood test showed minor abnormalities.

Snowden says everything has since returned to normal, with the gelding ready to run well despite his wide draw.

“He is in good form, and he’ll run well,” Snowden said.

“He is just drawn a bit awkward, but he’s got Nash (Rawiller) on. Nash knows him well and he goes well for him.”
