Accredited ready to go in Queensland debut in 2025 Lough Neagh Stakes
Accredited is set for his first Queensland appearance as trainer Joe Pride looks to convert strong Sydney form into interstate success in the Listed Lough Neagh Stakes (1300m) at Eagle Farm.
His only previous venture away from NSW produced a disappointing run at Sandown, but Pride believes circumstances were to blame.
“It was at Sandown. It’s a difficult course for Sydney horses to go to first time the Melbourne way, and I’m hoping that was the problem,” he said.
“He came back from there and raced well, so I’m thinking it was more something that happened on the day.”
The gelding’s recent form puts him right in contention, with seconds to Estadio Mestalla and Coal Crusher before a solid Festival Stakes effort behind eventual The Ingham winner Yorkshire.
Pride took plenty from that run.
“The Festival showed me everything I needed to know … he will be restricted to 1400 and below,” he said.
“He didn’t run the 1500 out strongly enough, so the 1300 should be ideal for him.”
Accredited now faces Rothfire, but Pride says his horse is perfectly placed.
“He looks really well placed to do that and I’m really happy with the horse.”
Pride has already enjoyed notable interstate results this month with The Black Cloud winning at Eagle Farm and Private Eye going close at Pakenham.
“You’ve got to go where you can find the races you can win, and hopefully that’s the case for this horse,” he said.
