2026 Royal Ascot still on Lady Of Camelot’s agenda

Lady Of Camelot has returned to pre-training with Royal Ascot still firmly in the minds of her connections ahead of an autumn carnival campaign.

The 2024 Golden Slipper winner has been absent since her third placing in the Coolmore Classic (1500m) in March, with minor issues leading to a spring spell.

Co-trainer Adrian Bott said the extended break was designed to set the mare up for bigger goals.

“We brought her in and there were a few niggles there, so with a plan of potentially trying to get to an international campaign next time in, we thought we’d give her a good break and do a big, full build-up from there,” Bott said.

“She has just kicked off pre-training, and she will be in the stables soon.”

Although her autumn program is yet to be confirmed, Bott said connections remain open-minded about travelling overseas later in the year.

“We will see her through the autumn, then there is the potential that we will look at an international campaign with her,” Bott said.

“We will have that in the back of our minds early in her preparation, keep those options open and Sir Owen will make a call as to what he’d like to do once we’re in the initial stages of that program.”

Lady Of Camelot showed her versatility last preparation, competing at the highest level against elite opposition.

She finished fourth in The Everest (1200m) and placed at each of her four runs, including runner-up efforts in the Light Fingers Stakes (1200m) and the Surround Stakes (1400m).
