Thyme To Go for Archibald giant

Annabel Archibald may not yet know how Thyme To Go compares with her other two-year-olds, but the filly has already earned attention for her sheer size.
The I Am Invincible youngster will debut in Saturday’s $160,000 Kia Ora Yearlings @ MMGC Plate (1000m) at Randwick, bringing a powerful frame to the early-season juvenile contest.
Bought for $260,000 at the Inglis Premier Yearling Sale, Thyme To Go has done enough at home to warrant a first-up appearance, and Archibald is keen to see how she handles raceday intensity.
“She’s very big – she’d be the biggest two-year-old in the stable – she’s quite mature looking,” Archibald told SENTrack.
“I think she’s going to be better over a little bit further, but I think this is a good starting point.
“She’s got a massive stride, so hopefully she can break well and have plenty of room.”
The field includes six first starters and several well-credentialed youngsters, including Godolphin pair Outspan and Tatiana, along with Excelluna and Sweet Intent.
Top-priced runner Knightsbridge, purchased for $750,000 at Magic Millions, has already raced, finishing fifth in the Group 3 Breeders Plate (1000m), while Final Gift contested the Max Lees Classic (900m).
Out of More Than Ready mare Joy At Last, Thyme To Go improved sharply from her first trial to record a half-length win at her latest hit-out.
“The horse that was second there in the trial, Knightsbridge, is in the field as well,” Archibald pointed out.
“She’s obviously a first starter and being a two-year-old it’s always a little bit of an unknown, but she is a lovely filly.”
Zac Lloyd has the mount from barrier one, with Thyme To Go sitting on the third line of betting behind Knightsbridge and Profitabelle.
