Knightsbridge impresses on debut 2026 Magic Millions Classic next

Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott look set to send a powerful team to the Gold Coast after Knightsbridge announced himself with a commanding first-up win at Randwick.

The Farnan colt, purchased for $750,000 at last year’s Gold Coast Yearling Sale, lived up to expectations when winning the Kia Ora Yearlings @ MMGC Plate (1000m), wearing down Thyme To Go ($3.80) to score by a length, with Profitable ($3.50) holding on for third.

Sent out as the $3.20 favourite, Knightsbridge showed maturity beyond his experience after just two prior trials, with January’s Magic Millions 2YO Classic now clearly in sight.

“He still had improvement left in him heading into today,” Bott said.

“That’s exactly what we wanted. He’s stepping through the grades nicely and this was a good launch point for a Magic Millions campaign.”

Jockey Adam Hyeronimus was equally impressed by the colt’s mental strength and ability to cope with pressure.

“He’s got a terrific attitude,” Hyeronimus said.

“Once he found clear air, he really stretched out and hit the line strongly. He’ll be even better when he gets over further.”

Knightsbridge’s pedigree points to future success over longer trips, with his half-sister Semana producing her best form between 1400m and 1600m.

Early markets have Knightsbridge at around $15 with major racing betting providers for the Magic Millions Classic, a price that may shorten as his preparation progresses.
