Inhabit ready to show more in 2026 Magic Millions QTIS 2yo Fillies

With summer racing at the Gold Coast entering its decisive phase, Michael Hickmott is expecting a much-improved performance from Inhabit as she lines up in Saturday’s QTIS 2yo Fillies (1100m).
Inhabit burst onto the scene with a debut win at Murray Bridge over 900 metres in October, but Hickmott has dismissed her subsequent third placing at Morphettville Parks behind Moana Spirit.
The daughter of Stay Inside was later found to have cardiac arrhythmia, but a dominant trial victory since has restored confidence.
“She had a jump out against the older horses and was completely dominant,” Hickmott said while inspecting yearlings ahead of the Magic Millions Sale.
“Her last run was basically a no race for us I’m not paying any attention to it.
“The figures that we use indicate that is she would have replicated her first start at her second and even improved slightly, she can be in the mix with these horses this time.”
Inhabit will start at around $11, with the Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott-trained duo By Choice and Skiki sharing favouritism at under $4.
Todd Pannell, who has ridden extensively at the Gold Coast, remains aboard Inhabit.
The South Australian jockey has recorded 35 wins and 87 placings from 410 rides at the circuit over the past 15 years.
Hickmott will also be represented by Cash, who took a longer journey north after missing his original flight from South Australia.
The lightly raced four-year-old travelled by road via Sydney, having posted a career-best rating of 90 at Gawler before a barrier trial at Randwick on December 30.
“He will win a really good race at some stage,” Hickmott said of Cash, who boasts two wins and two placings from four starts.
Markets are open with major betting platforms for the QTIS 2yo Fillies and Magic Millions Rising Stars events, giving punters plenty to assess.
Cash, a $1.1 million Magic Millions Yearling Sale purchase in 2023, is a $6.50 equal second favourite for the Magic Millions Rising Stars 3&4yo for colts, geldings and entires.
“It is a bit left of centre the way we had to come here but hopefully it all works out well,” Hickmott added.
