All set for 2026 Magic Millions Gold Coast sale

Aside from the year disrupted by Equine Influenza, the build-up to Australia’s first live yearling sale of the season has never been longer, with Magic Millions now poised to begin on the Gold Coast.
The iconic Gold Coast Yearling Sale, which attracts buyers from across the globe, kicks off on Tuesday and continues through to Sunday.
The Bundall complex has been a hive of activity since early last week, with buyers converging on the Gold Coast for inspections.
“Inspections started here Tuesday and I think vendors and buyers were both eager to get here given the fact we’re that little bit further away from New Year than normal,” Magic Millions managing director Barry Bowditch said.
“Everyone’s got in and got a lot of inspections done, it’s been fairly solid on the complex, and there are a lot of nice horses.
“The inspectors, agents and buyers are predicting there’s great depth to the catalogue. There’s a fantastic middle (market), there are some very significant horses in the catalogue that are going to go very well and, all in all, from an inspections perspective Magic Millions is delighted.”
The 1221-lot sale will start at 11am on Tuesday, immediately following the barrier draws for the $3 million 2YO Classic and $3 million 3YO Guineas, held on the sands of Broadbeach.
Among the 210 lots on Day 1 are a Written Tycoon colt out of Away Game and an I Am Invincible filly out of Avantage, with 240 yearlings to be offered on each of Wednesday and Thursday.
Friday’s ‘super session’ again features 290 lots before Book 2 concludes the sale on Sunday with a further 241 yearlings.
“The Super Session is logical, it was well received last year, and it worked extremely well,” Bowditch said.
“Obviously, we had some massive fireworks late in the sale, and the sale topper came in the last hour of the sale.”
The record-breaking $3.2 million Home Affairs filly out of Sunlight topped last year’s sale.
Across Book 1 in 2025, buyers spent just over $205 million, with an average of $272,507.
The catalogue features 31 yearlings out of Group 1 winners, including a highly regarded I Am Invincible filly out of Qafila.
That Coolmore Stud filly sells early in the Super Session, while Arrowfield’s Snitzel colt out of Iffranesia, a brother to Beadman, looms as another headline act on Day 2.
Interest is also building across major betting platforms as Magic Millions racing week approaches.
The sale also offers the first opportunity to purchase yearlings by standout first-season sires, led by nine-time Group 1 winner and former Horse of the Year Anamoe, who has 31 lots catalogued.
