Freedman family affair at Rosehill races

Posted by RS NewsWire at 8:06pm on January 15th

Family pride will be on the line at Rosehill on Saturday as Michael, Richard and Anthony Freedman all saddle up runners in the same two-year-old race.

The Bisley Workwear Handicap (1100m) has attracted ten acceptors, with the Freedman-trained juveniles drawing saddlecloths one through three.

Outspan, trained by Michael Freedman, is a colt by Bivouac who finished off strongly behind Magic Millions 2yo Classic hopeful Knightsbridge last time out.

Richard Freedman, in partnership with son Will, will unveil Written In Munny, a Written Tycoon colt who comes off an impressive trial victory.

Anthony Freedman and his son Sam complete the trio with a Pinatubo colt out of Calliope, a half-brother to talented filly Tempted.

Written In Munny was a $360,000 yearling buy and is out of the American Listed winner Always In The Munny, and Richard Freedman said the family has crossed paths often on the racetrack.

“We’ve all had a runner in the same race before, but I don’t think it’s happened with first starters,” Freedman said.

With Sydney set for potentially heavy rain, Freedman said weather conditions will influence race-day decisions but remains upbeat about his colt.

“I think the weather will play a part on whether that actually takes place,” Freedman said.

“We’re always sort of wary with that sort of stuff.

“He’s a nice horse. He’s fast, he’s got speed.

“He showed that in his trial, he’s just got to convert that to race performance.

“He was probably a little left in the tank, but he ran a second and a half quicker than any other trial, including group horses.

“He’s a nice horse, he can go on and he’ll probably be a better three-year-old.”

Betting interest is building across trusted horse racing betting sites for the Rosehill two-year-old contest.

The early favourite is Thyme To Go for Annabel and Rob Archibald, who finished second to Knightsbridge on debut in the race won last year by Wodeton.
