Warwoven in doubt to line-up in the 2026 Magic Millions Classic field

Posted by RS NewsWire at 2:31pm on January 16th

Warwoven’s place in Saturday’s $3 million Magic Millions 2YO Classic is in jeopardy after the colt was found to be lame during pre-race veterinary inspections.

Queensland stewards conducted routine checks on Friday morning and identified lameness in Warwoven’s off foreleg.

Adding further uncertainty, the Bjorn Baker-trained Masvingo, who shares similar ownership interests, was also found to be lame in the near foreleg.

“Both runners will undergo a further examination tomorrow morning prior to scratching time,” Racing Queensland stewards said.

If Warwoven is ruled out, the dynamics of the 1200-metre race would change dramatically, with the unbeaten colt having been as short as $1.70 in betting prior to the veterinary concerns.

The $380,000 Gold Coast yearling has been the dominant market leader since his impressive Eagle Farm victory on January 3, following an equally convincing debut win at Randwick.

With the favourite under a cloud, interest has intensified across major horse racing betting sites ahead of Saturday’s feature.

Zip Lock, trained by Chris and Corey Munce, is the $6 second elect, with Tornado Valley ($8) and Shiki ($11) rounding out the leading chances.
