Big Sky surges into 2026 Blue Diamond Stakes calculations

Big Sky’s dominant debut at Flemington has propelled him straight into calculations for the Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m), giving Mick Price and Michael Kent Jnr the top two runners in early betting.
The Bivouac colt overcame a wide draw in the TAB We’re On (1000m), travelling strongly under Jordan Childs and putting the race away late to score by 2¾ lengths.
Starting a $2.90 equal favourite, Big Sky surged past Mirador in the closing stages, with Boridi filling third, and immediately caught the attention of Blue Diamond markets.
Previously quoted at $15 for the feature, Big Sky is now a $6 second favourite behind stablemate Guest House.
Kent Jnr was full of praise for the colt’s performance and composure.
“It worked out pretty well, really,” Kent Jnr said.
“He did a bit wrong early, but Jordy rode him spot on.
“He travelled beautifully, had a great turn of foot and really attacked the line.”
With Blue Diamond markets reacting quickly, punters can track prices and form through leading horse racing betting sites.
The stable is weighing up whether Big Sky will meet Guest House in the Blue Diamond Prelude (1100m) as the next step.
“We’ll see how he comes through it,” Kent Jnr said.
“He’s taken a big step forward, but it only gets harder from here.
“The Prelude looks the logical stepping stone before the big one.”
