Incognito to launch Golden Slipper Stakes 2026 campaign at Rosehill

Rosehill will provide the launching pad for Incognito’s next assignment, with the Golden Slipper equal favourite returning to the races in the Canonbury Stakes.
The spring saw the colt stamp his talent with victory in the Breeders’ Plate (1000m), and his preparation for Saturday has included two trials, the latest a spirited hit-out where he finished third behind stablemates Enriched and Manaal.
Trainer Michael Freedman couldn’t be happier with the way the youngster has progressed since coming back into work, highlighting a stronger frame and the same calm nature.
“He has certainly strengthened up a little bit, and he’s still got a beautiful temperament, which is just as important,” Freedman said.
“I think he’s come back in great order.”
Freedman’s familiarity with Slipper campaigns is well established, having previously handled Stay Inside, the 2021 Golden Slipper winner, whose brief build-up featured the Pierro Plate (1100m) and Todman Stakes (1200m).
Incognito won’t follow that identical blueprint, but the Todman is still on the radar as part of the wider plan.
“The long-term plan would be the Canonbury into the Silver Slipper and Todman,” Freedman said.
“Things can change a little bit with two-year-olds, but that would be the plan at the moment.”
Eight runners have been paid up for the Canonbury Stakes (1100m), with Incognito to carry 57.5kg under the set weights plus penalties conditions, conceding three kilos to every rival.
The fillies will be catered for in the Widden Stakes (1100m), where Freedman’s Hardanger is among the nominations after finishing third to Slipper equal favourite Warwoven at her sole appearance in December.
