Tommy Berry hoping to be Enriched by Rosehill experience

Tommy Berry believes Saturday’s JRA Plate will provide a clear indication of where Enriched is at as the sprinter resumes at Rosehill.
The talented galloper was among the standout three-year-olds last autumn, finishing runner-up in the Darby Munro Stakes before winning the Group 2 Arrowfield 3YO Sprint.
However, his spring campaign failed to live up to expectations, prompting trainer Michael Freedman to give him additional time.
“Last autumn he was very good then he just didn’t come up last preparation, so Michael tipped him out and gave him a bit more time,” Berry said.
“This preparation he is going really well, and his trials have been nice.
“There is still a question mark as to whether he is going as well as when he won the Arrowfield, but Saturday is going to be a great chance for him to prove that.”
Enriched will line up at $5 in a strong edition of the JRA Plate.
Berry expects the tempo to suit his mount with several on-pace runners engaged.
“There looks to be good speed in the race with Zarastro, Willaidow and Fire Star. He is going to get his chance to have a cruisy run and hopefully come off the back of them and show how he’s come back,” he said.
Berry’s Rosehill rides also include Incognito in the Canonbury Stakes and the progressive Cross Tasman.
“He is very progressive. What I like the most is he’s versatile, whether it’s track conditions or distances,” Berry said.
Those assessing the JRA Plate can review the current racing betting markets ahead of race day.
