Zac Lloyd backs Hidrix for Silver Slipper Stakes repeat

Heading to the Silver Slipper, Zac Lloyd feels more assured about Hidrix's chances than prior to the colt's first-up effort in the Canonbury Stakes.

Prior to the debut, Lloyd was not on the Extreme Choice youngster for barrier trials, and he noted the Chris Waller barn's restrained outlook given the lack of intense workouts at home.

"No-one overwhelmed me with confidence before the race because he's a very casual customer at trackwork," Lloyd said.

"But he got a lovely run and that enabled him to sprint well, and he did win quite comfortably.

"Hopefully he has switched on mentally from that and can race well again on Saturday.

"He couldn't have been more impressive."

His Canonbury Stakes (1100m) display elevated Hidrix to co-favouritism in Golden Slipper wagering, and he sits second in line at $4.40 for Saturday's Silver Slipper (1100m) at Rosehill.

Shiki, the Tulloch Lodge filly, and Confederation, runner-up from the Canonbury Stakes, top the betting at $4, as James McDonald remains aboard the colt following their debut where he fought on gamely amid mistakes.

In the Canonbury Stakes, Incognito from Michael Freedman's yard was sent off odds-on but placed fifth due to a displaced palate discovered afterward.

Freedman has addressed the concern to stop it from happening again, fitting the Breeders' Plate winner with tongue control and a lugging bit for Saturday.
