Arctic Glamour team eyes weather closely before Guy Walter Stakes appearance

Ahead of Arctic Glamour's intended reappearance in the Guy Walter Stakes at Randwick, her trainers Gerald Ryan and Sterling Alexiou remain on edge regarding the Sydney conditions owing to her poor affinity with wet surfaces.

With no successes from six starts on soft tracks for the five-year-old, Ryan explains they prefer not to misuse a race opportunity and would activate their contingency if the track at Randwick proves damp by race time.

"We will know on Saturday morning at 7.30 (AEDT)," Ryan said.

"If she doesn't run Saturday, she will go to Newcastle. But she won't be running on rain-affected ground."

Ryan would rather see favorable weather permit Arctic Glamour's start in the Guy Walter Stakes (1400m), but the Newcastle Stakes (1400m) on March 6 at the Hunter track serves as the fallback plan.

The mare excels when returning from a spell, taking out the Hot Danish Stakes (1400m) first-up in spring, with Ryan confident her preparation now is on par.

"As good as ever. Her fresh record is great, she's had seven goes for two wins, a second and a third, and there was one race first-up at Randwick you could just put a line through," Ryan said.

"Her first trial was good. She probably ran out of a bit of puff.

Then the other day we went back and rode her quiet and she hit the line really well - I didn't want her to have a hard trial, I wanted her to run home for 300 or 400 metres, and she did that really well."

From barrier four, Tom Sherry will partner Arctic Glamour, positioning her potentially for a tilt at the Coolmore Classic (1500m) back at Rosehill a fortnight hence.
