King Of Roseau gives Tom Sherry winning ride in Group Three Liverpool City Cup

The decision by Tom Sherry to take the mount on King Of Roseau at minimal weight has been vindicated, with the quick sprinter powering home to victory in the Group Three Liverpool City Cup held at Randwick.
"He had 54 (kilos) today, so he tested me a bit this morning. I was glad it all worked out OK," Sherry said.
"We had the right run in the race today. He quickened extremely well."
At two years old, he placed fourth in the 2024 Canonbury Stakes (1100m) and notched up two Listed placings during his three-year-old season, but it's in maturity that King Of Roseau has peaked.
In August, he took out the Group 3 Aurie's Star Stakes (1200m) over Flemington's track and followed up with his classic late charge to land the $2 million Magic Millions Cup (1400m) on the Gold Coast last month.
"We saw what he did down in Melbourne in the Aurie's Star and in the Magic Millions. He has been an absolute revelation his last couple of preparations," trainer Peter Snowden's assistant, Aaron Lau, said.
"When he's on song, he's got a lethal turn of foot."
Active in campaigns from November onwards, with trainer Snowden inserting breaks between appearances, Lau is pondering the depth of this preparation ahead of the upcoming big meetings.
"We'll have a good think. The races only get tougher from here and he's probably a few rungs behind those topliners," Lau said.
"But if we set him for the right races, he will certainly make his presence felt."
From a trailing position, King Of Roseau ($8.50) unleashed a ferocious sprint to win by 1-1/4 lengths ahead of Enriched ($7.50), while Axius ($4.40) was a head away in third spot.
