Final Rosehill push for juveniles targeting Golden Slipper fields

Numerous young horses are eyeing the concluding berths in the Golden Slipper through performances in the Magic Night and Pago Pago Stakes, prominently featuring favourite Warwoven.
Positioned 18th on the entry roster, the colt could benefit as two rivals may opt out late, while Saturday's dual lead-up winners gain automatic inclusion, prompting trainer Bjorn Baker to avoid any gamble on missing out.
After a disputed scratch from January's Magic Millions Classic at the Gold Coast—deemed lame by Racing Queensland officials—the young horse ended a solid fourth in the Skyline Stakes (1200m).
In addition to last week's Todman Stakes winner and co-favourite for the Slipper Paradoxium, Baker expects Warwoven to show marked progress from his latest effort.
"He is going to come on, no doubt about it," Baker said.
"He's probably even got a touch more improvement from where Paradoxium is at the moment."
The duo of Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott plan four entrants across the races: By Choice and Lumbini in the fillies' Magic Night Stakes (1200m) for Tulloch Lodge, with Plagiarism and Drumfire entered in the colts' Pago Pago Stakes (1200m).
Consistent in all four career starts—including a third placing in the Sweet Embrace Stakes (1200m)—By Choice awaits suitable conditions for victory, according to Bott.
"She is going to appreciate high-pressure races, and appreciate a bit further in time," Bott said.
"But she has been so honest throughout her career. She's tough, she puts herself up on pace and she has drawn to do so again."
He views Lumbini as set to advance after traffic issues led to a poor finish in the corresponding race previously, but a dominant win would be required from one to pursue the Golden Slipper.
The same applies to Plagiarism, who has featured in contention during his three starts, notably fifth, beaten less than a length by Campione D'Italia in the Skyline Stakes (1200m).
"I'd like to think we're seeing nice, gradual improvement from him at each stage of the prep and he's another one, he's on a path to give himself a potential opportunity to have a look at a Slipper," Bott said.
"All those three would be outside the field at present and would need to be winning their way in, and we'd be wanting to see the right performance from them as well to be starting."
Newcomer Drumfire impressed with a Muswellbrook debut win last Sunday, and Bott remains enthusiastic despite the rapid return.
"It's different form lines, and he is a really natural two-year-old type," he said.
"He did it pretty easily at Muswellbrook and he's open to nice improvement. He has pulled up really well and that gave us a chance to have a look at Saturday."
