Getta Good Feeling's Caulfield mile test no concern for O'Brien

Danny O'Brien, the trainer, doesn't anticipate issues for Getta Good Feeling from the prompt distance rise ahead of her Caulfield assignment.
Successful in her first run back over 1200m on the Flemington straight, Getta Good Feeling now contests the Group 3 Alexandra Stakes (1600m) this coming Saturday.
The stable of O'Brien views the Group 1 Australasian Oaks (2000m) scheduled for Morphettville on April 25 as the primary objective for Getta Good Feeling this time in.
"It's three weeks between runs. She steps to the mile, but that shouldn't be a problem as she has plenty of fitness," O'Brien said.
"She'll run three weeks after this and then there's two weeks to the 2000-metre Group 1 over in Adelaide.
"It's a pretty straight forward set-up for her."
During the previous spring campaign, Getta Good Feeling ranked with the best three-year-old fillies, triumphing in the Edward Manifold Stakes (1600m) at Flemington, third in Caulfield's Thousand Guineas (1600m), and then the Wakeful Stakes (2000m) back at Flemington.
With such credentials, she was sent out favourite at short odds for the VRC Oaks (2500m), looking dominant in the latter stages before weakening late to cross sixth.
Resuming last month, Getta Good Feeling captured the Inglis Sprint (1200m) at Flemington, delighting her connections while catching the betting public unaware.
"It wasn't unexpected," O'Brien said.
"Her form in the spring had been very good at 1200, 1400 (metres) and a mile.
"We just thought she didn't stay the 2500 metres of the Oaks, so that's why we gave her that opportunity first-up in the $1 million race and she had class on most of them in the race and she delivered.
"Up to the mile on Saturday, she's got plenty of fitness underneath the belt there from a long spring, so it shouldn't be an issue."
