Winx's record $10 million filly Quinceanera sidelined from racing permanently

Never to grace the turf, the groundbreaking first progeny of superstar mare Winx – who was front-page news worldwide two years ago at this juncture – has been officially scratched from any race plans.

Announcement came Wednesday morning on social media from the Kepitis-owned Woppitt Bloodstock, who had splashed $10 million on the Pierro filly, dubbing her Quinceanera.

A video captured the filly's stint with Chris Waller, the trainer behind Winx's legendary run, and detailed how vets alongside Waller prompted the retirement call.

"Although disappointing, it's in her best interest to now begin her career as a broodmare," the statement read.

Her initial stud visit later this year remains unspecified in terms of the chosen stallion.

Fittingly timed with the two-year mark since her Inglis Easter sale, where Debbie Kepitis topped American John Stewart's bid to hold onto her.

Winx's co-owner Kepitis celebrated the mare's haul of 37 victories in 43 goes – 33 sequential, encompassing 25 Group 1s – and stakes exceeding $26.5 million.

Quinceanera represents one of Winx's pair of live offspring, alongside a 2024 Snitzel colt prepped for Inglis Easter this year yet withdrawn near sale time over a prep setback.

Winx rested for a season post-Snitzel colt before servicing Darley's Too Darn Hot the following year.
