Plaintiff primed for perfect record extension at Randwick

First-up success came as no shock to trainer Peter Snowden for unbeaten filly Plaintiff, although her dominant fashion might have sparked some interest.

A top-class three-year-old by Zoustar from elite Group One mare Prompt Response, Plaintiff looks to claim win number five in a row in Saturday's Group 3 JHB Carr Stakes (1400m) at Randwick.

She produced one of the standout results during Day 1 of The Championships, charging home from the rear to annex the Group 3 PJ Bell Stakes (1200m) and Snowden affirmed her evident stakes potential.

"It wasn't a surprise to us," Snowden said.

Last preparation brought three urban successes from as many attempts, and the camp has harboured high expectations for her throughout.

As decisive market leader at $1.90 in the JHB Carr Stakes on Saturday, Plaintiff has Snowden optimistic about upholding her unblemished slate before possibly venturing to Queensland riches.

"I think she can go on with it," Snowden said.

"She's got a really good attitude, she's got a good racing profile, she doesn't pull, she relaxes really well and she's got a turn of foot so she should get seven furlongs okay.

"We'll get through Saturday and see what happens, but she's got good ability and you can aim a bit higher with her and know she'll be competitive."

While positioned handy to the speed previously, Snowden is certain the filly boasts the versatility needed to prevail in the JHB Carr Stakes from varied tactics, lugging the penalty-adjusted maximum of 57kg.

"She's sat outside the leader in her first preparation at Rosehill so she's pretty adaptable," Snowden said

"You never get too far ahead of yourself but she's certainly full of good potential."
