Bendigo offers Ka Ying Cheer chance to restart winning run

Ka Ying Rising, the elite speedster, kept his winning run alive in Hong Kong's Champions Sprint on Sunday, while this Saturday his erstwhile quarantine buddy looks to spark a similar sequence afresh.
Ka Ying Cheer is eager to rebound from his debut Australian defeat as he heads to Bendigo.
This former Hong Kong quickster has nominations in a couple of benchmark 84 fixtures—one across 1100m, the alternate at 1300m—and his selected race will represent his first appearance post a sixth-placed effort at Caulfield April 11, which broke three straight victories.
He kicked off locally with a Class 1 success over 1100m at Pakenham February 5, followed by a benchmark 66 win at 1100m in Seymour on February 20, then a benchmark 78 at 1200m in Caulfield March 21.
Leung Shek-Kong owns Ka Ying Cheer, just like stablemate Ka Ying Rising, having travelled together in quarantine en route to The Everest last year before the former elected to base himself at Lindsay Park in Australia.
According to Ben Hayes, partnering with brothers Will and JD at the stable, the arrival has been a boon, mindful that competition levels escalated during his opening Australian phase, yet Saturday's race suits the current campaign stage.
"I think he will bounce back," Hayes said.
"He managed to win three in a row and kind of just got to his grade, but he's working nicely going into it.
"He didn't run badly (last start), but he just needs things to go right.
"He's deep into his prep now and he has won three in a row and he's up to good city class races. That's probably where he's at from now on."
For each of Ka Ying Cheer's options, two yard companions are entered too, with Stoli Bolli in both, Nervous Witness for the 1100m, and Laa De Shaa eyeing the 1300m.
Headlining Bendigo is the Golden Mile (1600m) that includes Von Hauke, Osipenko and Hughes, together with the Bendigo Guineas, each carrying $200,000 in prizemoney as Listed races.
