Bossy Nic hoping for soft track in Adelaide stakes
Tony and Calvin McEvoy's stable anticipates that softer going will favour Bossy Nic in her Morphettville assignment.
The mare is entered in Saturday's Group 3 Proud Miss Stakes (1200m), seeking to notch up yet another Stakes win.
The training pair weighed up the Group 1 The Goodwood (1200m) on the same card at Morphettville but opted for the less demanding fillies and mares event for their charge.
Bossy Nic triumphed in the Group 3 Thoroughbred Breeders Stakes (1200m) at Flemington during her second start at two years old, prompting thoughts of tackling Sydney's Autumn Carnival next.
Nevertheless, she has not matched that brilliance since, with four victories from 29 races and prizemoney nearing $740,000, and no further Stakes successes.
Still, she earned third in the Group 2 Tristarc Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield last spring.
In her two appearances this campaign on damp surfaces, Bossy Nic has placed each time, second at Flemington first-up and third latest at Caulfield on April 11.
The soft conditions forecast for Morphettville this Saturday delight Calvin McEvoy.
"She wants cut in the ground," McEvoy said.
"She's a nice mare, she's going well and is a capable mare on her day and as soon as she gets some soft ground, she improves, which is what she's had two runs this time in."
For the Saturday feature, Bossy Nic is third favourite in betting behind Aviatress ($4.20) and Naifah ($4.40).
Daniel Stackhouse, a seasoned hoop, will take over the reins from apprentice Jackson Radley, who partnered the mare in her two prior runs this time around.
