Snowden's stable loaded with top sprinters for feature clashes

Boasting a stable full of high-caliber sprinters primed for black-type action, trainer Peter Snowden enjoys the luxury of picking and choosing among several prestigious races.

Just a couple of weeks earlier, Zealously claimed victory in the Hawkesbury Gold Rush (1100m), followed by King Of Roseau and Beadman grabbing interstate stakes wins last week in the Takeover Target Stakes (1100m) at Gosford and Gold Coast Guineas (1200m).

"We're lucky we've got some troops back and they've all been performing," Snowden said.

"It's a bit of a juggling act, but it's a good problem to have."

Beadman aims to extend the streak with a bold second-up effort in the Group 1 Doomben 10,000 (1200m) this Saturday, promoted from emergency after a pair of early defections.

For the Scone meeting, Snowden sends a potent sprint squad including King Of Sparta and Fire Star to the Listed Ortensia Stakes (1100m), Tuileries to the Dark Jewel Classic (1400m), and the fillies Akaysha plus Miss Freelove into the Denise's Joy Stakes (1100m).

Miss Freelove was withdrawn from Brisbane to slot in at Scone with the benefit of barrier four.

The filly earned a placing in Group 3 ranks at Flemington in spring before showing grit in midfield on resumption versus promising Golden Straand at Warwick Farm a month ago, where the tempo didn't suit her hold-back approach.

The trainer has opted for winkers ahead of Saturday and reports the three-year-old has been a model of consistency post-return.

"She went back and they weren't making ground. She did run on, but she was a bit too far back," Snowden said of the performance.

"I have added some headgear, and hopefully that just gets her a bit more involved.

"She is going well, and she trialled really well the other week when she flew home, so she will be heading there will her tail up and she'll be a chance of winning."

In the identical race, Akaysha draws wide at 16 but arrives as a recent Brisbane Listed victor and runner-up in the prior Woodlands Stakes (1100m).

King Of Sparta resumes following 18 months idle since the 2024 Russell Balding Stakes (1200m), as Fire Star returns off a solid summer with excellent fresh stats.
