Revengeance's Next Start: The Rosebud Or A Trial?

Trainer Adrian Bott is weighing up options for the immediate future of his promising colt Revengeance, a winner of the Golden Gift. A decision on whether he contests The Rosebud or has another trial will be made after Tuesday's trackwork.

The two-year-old is set to be entered for Saturday's Listed event at Rosehill Gardens, though his participation hinges on his fitness levels following his scheduled gallop.

"He'll be nominated, but it's whether he runs there or whether we lean towards a trial and go to the San Domenico Stakes as a kick off," Bott explained. "We will probably make a call on Tuesday morning before acceptances. We'll see the nominations, and get a gauge off his work there on Tuesday."

Bott further commented, "He's come back well. Either way, he'll be better suited once he gets up to 1400 and a mile. He's going to be that style of horse this 'prep', but he will try to head towards a Golden Rose."

Revengeance commenced his career with a third placing in the Breeders' Plate before claiming the Golden Gift at his subsequent start, leading to early favouritism for the Golden Slipper. His campaign was interrupted by surgery to address bone chips in a knee.

The colt has undergone two barrier trials in preparation for his return. If he bypasses The Rosebud, he is scheduled for another trial at Randwick this Friday, with a likely resumption in the San Domenico Stakes (1100m) on August 29.

Meanwhile, stablemate Eviction Notice, a runner-up in the Silver Slipper Stakes, is also a potential entrant for The Rosebud (1100m).

Eviction Notice has shown good form with two placings in recent winter starts, which could give him a fitness advantage in the upcoming three-year-old feature race.

"Eviction Notice might be a lighter weight chance in the race. He would have the advantage of being fit as he's had a couple of runs," Bott added.
