Flemington jump-out on the cards for Mr Brightside

Veteran galloper Mr Brightside is set to continue his preparations for a return to the racetrack with a jump-out session at Flemington.

The nine-year-old, managed by Lindsay Park trainers Ben, Will, and J D Hayes, is pencilled in for a 1000-metre jump-out this Friday morning.

Mr Brightside is currently gearing up for his comeback run in the prestigious Group 1 Memsie Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield, scheduled for August 29.

The gelding missed his intended autumn campaign after undergoing minor surgery to correct a bone chip earlier in the year. He hasn't raced since finishing fifth to Ceolwulf in the Group 1 Champions Mile (1600m) at Flemington on the final day of last year's Melbourne Cup Carnival.

Mr Brightside participated in his initial jump-out since that effort at Flemington on August 3, where he was given a relatively easy time, consistent with the Lindsay Park training methodology.

A more demanding workout is expected for Mr Brightside on Friday.

"He pulled up good from that jump-out, no problems at all," J D Hayes stated.

"He'll trial again on Friday and then it's two weeks to the Memsie and then hopefully we can give him a day away with a course proper gallop, hopefully that will be at Sandown.

"But the way he is going, I reckon he'll run a cheeky race first-up."

Also slated to participate in Friday's jump-outs is the dual Cups champion Half Yours, who is set to compete against Mr Brightside in the morning's opening heat.

Half Yours's last appearance was in Brisbane, finishing fourth in the Q22 (2200m) at Eagle Farm in June.

The Tony and Calvin McEvoy-trained stayer is being readied for a comeback in the Group 1 Makybe Diva Stakes (1600m) on September 12, with a view to defending his title in the Melbourne Cup this November.
