Tenenbaum's spring campaign set to launch in Ming Dynasty Quality

With considerable depth in the three-year-old ranks this season, Tenenbaum has largely remained under the radar.

However, jockey Chad Schofield is not expecting this to persist, beginning with Saturday's Ming Dynasty Quality (1400m) at Rosehill.

Schofield guided the Snitzel colt to a strong first-up win at Canterbury, where he tracked the speed before drawing clear in the straight with ease.

Although the Ming Dynasty will present a different calibre of competition, Schofield is confident Tenenbaum possesses the necessary ability and scope for a successful transition into stakes races.

"He's obviously a very well bred horse and he's got good class," Schofield remarked. "He is still coming through the grades and he's untapped, but I think he's the type who could very easily measure up."

"It's a big jump in grade, but there was a lot of merit to his Canterbury win. He had a big weight, and it was very soft. He gives that nice horse feel so let's hope he can step up. He's a colt with a great attitude and that's half the battle."

Brad Widdup trains Tenenbaum, who was a $750,000 yearling acquisition for stable supporters, Mulberry Racing.

From barrier six, he is drawn to obtain an economical run and, as a brother to the 2024 Hong Kong Derby (2000m) winner Cap Ferrat, should benefit from a distance increase to 1400 metres.

Schofield has taken the ride on Cormier for Paul Messara and Leah Gavranich in the Run To The Rose (1200m), replacing regular jockey Aaron Bullock due to the colt's 55kg weight.

Having impressively won his debut at Scone, Cormier subsequently finished second twice to Tron Bolt, including in the Group 1 J J Atkins (1600m) at Eagle Farm in June.

"I've never ridden him before, but I know him as well as I can without riding him," Schofield commented. "He's a horse with a good deal of quality, he's first-up and has a light weight. I'm just filling in for Aaron Bullock, but I'm thrilled to get the ride and hopefully I can make it count."

Cormier will once again compete against Tron Bolt in the Run To The Rose, which has drawn a typically competitive field, notably featuring Champagne Stakes winner Fireball, Golden Slipper placegetter Music Time, and the undefeated St Gotthard.

All runners will be aiming to cement their credentials for the Group 1 Golden Rose (1400m) scheduled for September 26.
