Hinton to take over as Racing NSW CEO from V'landys

Peter V’landys will be succeeded as Racing NSW chief executive by Graeme Hinton, with the board giving their full endorsement to the seasoned administrator for the top position.

Hinton has been filling the role of Acting CEO since July and is slated to formally step into the role on December 1st. His tenure at Racing NSW spans more than ten years, including his previous position as Chief Operating Officer.

Having been a central figure alongside V’landys during a period marked by substantial growth, Hinton was deeply involved in the inception of The Everest, the expansion of the NSW Spring Carnival, and the advancement of Racing NSW’s programs focused on equine welfare.

According to Racing NSW Chair Dr. Saranne Cooke, the industry's support for Hinton has been "resounding" following consultations with key stakeholders.

V’landys himself was also enthusiastic in his endorsement of the incoming chief.

"Racing is extremely lucky to have Graeme. He is one of the rare individuals who have deep knowledge of every aspect of the racing industry."

Hinton expressed his honour at taking the helm of the sport.

"It is a privilege to lead such an incredible industry that I have grown up around and have spent my working life in. Racing is part of the economic and social fabric of our entire state. It provides employment to tens of thousands of people and entertainment to many, many more."

Looking ahead, he stated, “I look forward to working closely with the Racing NSW Board, our clubs, participants and industry partners to build on these strong foundations to ensure NSW remains at the forefront of racing in Australia and internationally.”
