Affaire Vue on a mission for a third straight victory

Trainer John Macmillan has always held a special place in his heart for Affaire Vue, ever since he purchased her as a yearling.
The Dundeel filly cost Macmillan $100,000 at the 2023 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale, with the trainer harbouring significant hopes for her future racing career.
Those grand ambitions have yet to fully materialise, but the now five-year-old mare is chasing a third consecutive win as she prepares to race in the Aceit Transport Solutions Handicap (1522m) at Morphettville this Saturday.
Affaire Vue kicked off her winning streak with a victory at Bordertown on September 11, and continued her fine form with a win at Gawler 12 days later, bringing her tally to four wins from 19 starts.
According to Macmillan, the talent has always been present, but it's only now that it's starting to emerge.
When asked if he ever envisioned her being in a position to win three races on the trot, Macmillan stated, 'I did when I bought her'.
'But she has been disappointing, mostly from greenness,' he elaborated. 'She has some minor soundness concerns, but I paid $100,000 for her because I liked her. Her trackwork didn't give me any reason to regret the purchase, but her race performances and her trackwork have not aligned. She has been incredibly frustrating, performing much better in trackwork than she has in actual races.'
Macmillan believes that age and maturity have finally allowed Affaire Vue to showcase her true abilities.
'She's now doing the right thing,' Macmillan said. 'In her earlier races she would shy away from one side to the other, be erratic, and struggle to finish off. The expansive Morphettville track should suit her. The only drawback is the wide barrier draw, but with Todd Pannell booked, we hope to overcome that.'
Macmillan will also be fielding Ilustrious Warrior in the Spring Carnival at Morphettville Handicap (1200m) on Saturday. Like his stablemate, Ilustrious Warrior appears to lack the killer instinct in his races.
Ilustrious Warrior tasted victory at Bordertown before securing fourth place at Gawler in his most recent run. 'He's a bit like his stablemate as he's shown more in trackwork than in his races,' Macmillan noted. 'He's still quite green and likely should have won at Gawler, but Todd mentioned that he floated when asked for an effort and was unable to put the race away.'
