Blue-blooded filly Tiz Invincible blossoms in The Rosebud

Superbly bred filly Tiz Invincible has broken her maiden in style with a classy first-up victory in the Listed Rosebud to put herself on a potential Golden Rose path.

By super sire I Am Invincible out of a half-sister to Anamoe, Tiz Invincible is bred in the purple and proved she had inherited plenty of the family’s ability with Saturday’s Rosehill success.

“Beautiful. Someone just said to me, you don’t often break your maiden in stakes races, especially in a field like that,” co-trainer Ciaron Maher said.

“She has always been a quality filly, she’s got a huge pedigree.”

Tiz Invincible wasn’t the best to jump but quickly mustered speed to box seat fourth on the fence.

Maher admitted to some mid-race concerns when she began to travel keenly but once she shouldered into the clear in the straight, Tiz Invincible ($3.40 unibet fav) surged between runners to nail the tough Introducing ($7) by a short neck with the runner-up’s stablemate The Instructor ($4.20) third.

In doing so, Tiz Invincible became only the second filly to win the Rosebud (1100m) after She’s A Fox in 2012, while also delivering Maher and co-trainer David Eustace the first two black-type races of the Sydney season after I Am Me took out the Missile Stakes last weekend.

The three-year-old could now head to The Run To The Rose (1200m) on September 9 with the Group 1 Golden Rose (1400m) two weeks later also in the mix.

“She’s certainly bred that way,” Maher said.

“I do like a nice gap between their first and second runs, especially when she’s had to dig in in a race like that.”

Winning jockey James McDonald said Tiz Invincible packed a few surprises during the race but scored with something in hand.

“She wasn’t cleanly into stride and halfway through she started to truck-up pretty strongly,” McDonald said.

“She hasn’t shown that sort of enthusiasm early, in her trials anyway, so that caught me by surprise.

“Then she had to make her way out, and she knuckled down with the huge weight (58 kilos).”

Tulloch Lodge pair Introducing and The Instructor both fought on bravely after racing on speed and co-trainer Adrian Bott was satisfied with their respective returns.

“The Instructor had to carry topweight so going forward he will be improved. He has a good racing pattern and is very genuine,” Bott said.

“Introducing raced very true and dug in for the fight late in the race, which was very pleasing to see.”

Tiz Invincible gave Maher and Eustace a race-to-race double after Chorlton Lane bounced back to his best to win the Ranvet Handicap (1400m).
