Kurt Goldman 2YO set for The Debut on the Gold Coast

Posted by RS NewsWire at 6:17am on January 9th

He only made the transition to the Gold Coast six months ago, but former Goulburn-based trainer Kurt Goldman has hit the ground running with his small team.

His mare Arts Object got the job done in The Wave on Saturday, collecting $345,000 in the process, and Goldman is aiming for more riches with his debutante two-year-old filly Indubitably this weekend.

The daughter of sire Dubious, who ran second in the two-year-old feature in 2019, has accepted for the 2YO Fillies Plate and Goldman believes she is right type of horse to stake a claim in the $500,000 contest.

Her dam Lady Mary also placed at Listed level as a juvenile when third behind Hot Snitzel in the Ken Russell Memorial Classic back in 2011.

“She’s just a very natural two-year-old type as you’d probably expect from that family,” Goldman said.

“She’s been very straight forward from day one, Very tradesman-like, loves her work and never misses a beat.

“I’ve been pleased with what she’s done and how she’s come on.”

All Magic Millions hopefuls must have gone through a sale, and Goldman may have found himself a bargain with his mid-year purchase.

“We only paid $20,000 for her in the National Sale in June, so it’s been a pretty quick turnaround,” Goldman said.

“But she’s put her hand up every day since she was broken in. She just thrives on being in that environment and just a very straight forward, uncomplicated filly.”

Being no stranger to the Magic Millions carnival, Goldman is looking for better luck in the 2024 edition.

“I think I’ve had four runners in Magic Millions races for a second and two thirds, I’ve gone agonisingly close a couple of times,” Goldman lamented.

“I had a mare years ago named Arms Length who ran second and third in the mares race.

“Eckstein ran third in the Guineas too, so I’m due.”

Indubitably currently sits at $13 on the fixed markets with barriers yet to be drawn.
